October 18th - A Rip-Snorting Good Time at the Chamber Whodunit
The Frostproof Area Chamber of Commerce hosted their first murder-mystery dinner theater.  It was a definite success.  Not only did the assigned characters come in costume, but so did most of the audience.

A theater full of enthusiastic cowboys, cowgirls, gamblers, and other assorted characters came to honor “Dusty” Jones, the rich prospector from Cactus Gulch in the Whodunit at the Ramon.  The evening was full of twists and turns, speeches and food, and an opportunity to use the best sleuthing skills possible to discover the murder of “Dusty”.

The Mayor of Cactus Gulch brought the townspeople together to honor the prospector and the U.S. Marshall conducted the investigation after he was murdered.  Everyone participated by dressing for the occasion and sharing their clues with everyone they met.  It was a fun and exciting evening.  One guest remarked it was “the event of the season”. Cattie Adams, the proprietress of The Short Stump Saloon, provided “Dusty” his favorite beverage.  Hannibal Hank, the editor and owner of The Cactus Gulch Gazette, kept everyone informed of the “goings on” in town through his newspaper.  He also transcribed “Dusty’s speech for all to use in their deciphering of clues.  The school marm, Bonnie Crocket, who was sweet on “Dusty” and Annie Elmsley, the female sharp shooter were locked in a battle over “Dusty’s affections.  Chief of the Holecowa Tribe, Hawk-Who-Watches was deeply concerned about people taking the precious minerals out of the ground for personal gain.  Abraham Patton, the banker, had a vested interest in “Dusty” and his assets. Then the dime-store novelist, J.P. Morgan had a secret and so did the good doctor, Tricia .  It seems everyone in town had a reason to do in the rich prospector in.  Appetizers, a fulfilling meal and dessert kept the party moving and everyone satisfied.  The evening ended with the murdered being “cuffed” by the Marshall and taken away.

The Ramon and the Chamber look forward to many more events of this type in the future.
